An Icy Camping Adventure

We set out on another camping trip this weekend. I have to say that it is getting a little cold for my liking to be sleeping out of doors, but all in the name of spending time together as a family.
We went to a camp site that Danny had been to the week before, and lucky for us, no one else was around, it was perfect for motorbike riding. Noah spent the whole day on Saturday on the bike, he's doing so well. Danny ,Rich and Chris spent most of the day on their bikes too. Charlie had fun mucking around in the dirt, thankfully it wasn't wet! Simone and I went for a nice walk down to the river, it was really pretty. Eli just mucked about too, and and had the occasional dink on the bike.

I didn't need to bring a toy box for Charlie because he had the tool box. he's SUCH a boy!

Needless to say, our camping adventure came to an abrupt end at around 2am on Saturday night (yes that's right 2 am on the coldest night of the year). Apparently we weren't the only ones camping that night and it happens that the area we chose to camp is also a favorite spot for the local redneck "Yahoos". It was so terrible, they weren't even camping in our site but kept coming over in the 4wd's doing burnouts and yelling and stuff trying to case trouble. They were sooooo loud and quite scary, it got to a point were they became quite threatening and wanting to fight, so we decided it wasn't worth sticking around. We rushed to pack up our icy tents and swags and got out of there. And yes it was as horrible as it sounds!!! What an adventure, not a good one but a memorable one. Don't think we'll be going back there in a hurry.

Last Photos of Valerie

Dad, Angel and Charlie
These photos were taken on our last night at Dad's before we drove home. This was the last time we saw Valerie. She passed away less than two weeks later. I am so glad we got to see her when we did. We have lots of memories to keep alive.

This was taken on Saturday the 3rd April 2010. Mandy and the kids were over and Dan was down and we were there and we had a really nice day on the river bank. Valerie had just returned home from hospital for the Easter long weekend. I', so glad she was able to come home and we could all spend that time together. Dad bundled her up and brought her out to the river bank to be with us all.

New Gruds for a Cute Baby

This is Charlie's preferred position when playing with his toys. He does the same playing with cars and anything really, so long as he can sit in it.
Chuckles was in desperate need of some warm gruds for winter, and of course I couldn't justify buying them, I could however justify buying fabric to make them. I had a Japanese pattern for overalls/pants to try out that Janine gave me. A lot of patterns don't allow for "big bottomed babies" (cloth nappies) these days. Thankfully this one did, it was perfecto.
I found this cute silhouette print with bears and deer and fishing rods etc on it, I loved it, so I matched it with some toasty warm polar fleece so that my very adventurous baby can crawl around outside and stay warm (mostly)
I let the boys choose the fabric for his other pair of pants . They choose this cute little cartoon cowboy print which I lined with flannelet. He looks so spunky.
It was so nice spending a day sewing, very indulgent but it had to be done. I did also manage to get potato and leek soup made for lunch (with help from Noah) and we made pizza for dinner and even squeezed in a walk. What a wonderful relaxing day. I really needed it to recharge my batteries.

Ingowrie - A Family Day Out April 11th, 2010

We had all gathered in Yamba for Chantelle's wedding, so why not take the opportunity and spend a great day together too. It's not that often we are all together. Dan was staying at the Rain Forest Resort so we hung out there for a lot of the time and then hit the blue pools and the beach.
Danny, Dan, Josh and Lee all had a crack at jumping off the cliff. I was so impressed with Josh and Lee, how gutsy are they!!! Gone are my days of jumping off cliffs into the water. The rest of us did have a really nice swim though.Someone had very kindly built this structure for us on the beach. A few blankets and towels and we had ourselves a little humpy.
How nice was it to swim at Spooky's Beach. Well I tell you, I could have stayed there forever. It was so rejuvenating and refreshing, and mind clearing. I Love It! So did everyone else too of course.
Maya is just so cute and funny, my little niece cracks me up.
Aunty Cheryl taking the tin lids for a swim. Good on ya Aunty C.
Of course a prime photo opportunity.
Dad came down too for the day which was really fantastic. Valerie wasn't able to get down which was a shame, but he had a really good day too.
We all had a fabulous time, wish there was more like it.
